Then thats messed up because i've followed octanes exact settings for linear. I even followed the After Effects settings otoy has in the manual. And it doesnt work.

Before you say "UPDATE". I cant as i have many open projects and updating right now wouldnt be wise. I am running 2020.1.5 R4. Are you saying that the linear workflow that we've just described doesnt work with that version of octane?

The settings we discussed here will work for you. Nothing I have commented about invalidates that.

In your case, as I have previously written, I would use EXR(Octane) over PNG, especially for comp work. PNG is a lossy format.

Not lossy but embedded sRGB colorspace, not proper for linear workflow. Always prefer Octane(EXR).
Also just one note: Tonemapping will not work with linear buffers.

RS,

If everything is still looking dark in AE, have you checked you footage interpretation (right clicking on the file(s) when you first import? I believe AE converts everything to linear light for 32-bit by default.

And do you use display management? That can affect things, too. What is your output from there?

I've switched over totally to OCIO (ACES-CG), but perhaps if you could upload even one frame (even just a primitive in normal light with your settings.) I could see if I have the same issues importing in AE.

I can only check these forums when I remember, but I'll make a point of doing so for the next couple of days.
