Hi, I'm trying to render using the Daylight Animation script.

When I hit render, everything looks like normal — it's rendering on the GUI and everything.

However, when I check my finder, there's nothing there. Digging into the logs, and I find this:
Image loading: PNG: FreeImage_Save: failed to open file /Users/abeyang/p0001.png
...
I'm currently using an M1 MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020), and on Big Sur (11.2.2).

Just FYI, I've even given Octane full disk permissions via my System Preferences, just to rule that out... nada.

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
thanks for reporting this.
Yes confirmed, both Daylight, and Turntable animation scripts are not saving the result to disk, in the latest version, it is not an issue of M1 chip only:

I’m forwarding it to the devs, it will be fixed for the next version.

Happy Mac GPU rendering,

Ah thanks for confirming!

However, the Batch Render is working — I'm guessing because it's not using FreeImage_Save?

Also, in the meantime, is there a simple workaround? Like, is there something we can modify in the script itself s.t. we can render?

Working on a project currently... thanks!

Hi,
please try with this scene:
AnimatedSun.orbx
(1.82 MiB) Downloaded 135 times
There is a Lua ScriptedGraph node to animate the Local Time pin of the Sun Direction node:
