OctaneX Studio/Enterprise PR7 for BigSur
Moderators: ChrisHekman, aoktar
We are planning to release it this month with PMC and other reported bug fixes since PR7 release. We expect PR8 DCC plug-ins on M1 will be better supported, but M1 is still beta for now. We also will release the Mac Pro Enterprise 1-year offer in tandem with the PR8 update. After that we plan to do another release to get M1 out of beta, and then move onto the 2021 Metal version (in tandem with 2021 CUDA) - 2020.2 is an interem CUDA only release while we merge CUDA/Metal features for Octane X/OctaneRender 2021.1 stable release (note Octane X 2021 will require newer GPU's - but older systems can use the 2020 current builds that work all the way back to 2013 Mac Pro D500 cards)
My mac updated to 11.3 Have you tested with this build by chance? Freezing.. but is that just the be patient and wait for the shader rebuild? Or am i screwed till PR8?Goldorak wrote:We are planning to release it this month with PMC and other reported bug fixes since PR7 release. Hello, I have 3 Mac Pro 2013 with many Nvidia GTX Titan X and many Nvidia GTX 1080 that run like slave (2020.2) and 1 PC ( easy for version ) and 1 new MacPro 2019 ( PR7 ).Goldorak wrote: … 2020.2 is an interem CUDA only release while we merge CUDA/Metal features for Octane X/OctaneRender 2021.1 stable release (note Octane X 2021 will require newer GPU's - but older systems can use the 2020 current builds that work all the way back to 2013 Mac Pro D500 cards)
With version 2021.1, I will be able to run all my computers together ?
2021.1 Render node ( cuda ) version can be run gtx titan and 1080 in my old Mac ??
Congratulations on the work you do!
thx, cedric

Hi Cedric,
for now, you need to have both High Sierra 10.13.6 (for working in Mac CUDA), and Big Sur 11.2 (for working in Mac Metal) installed in Mac Pro 2013, to be used as Render-Node in both conditions.
When started from Big Sur, the Nvidia GPUs cannot be used, but you can render with the internal AMD Fire Pro GPUs:

Mac CUDA and Metal are not perfectly matching for now, so netrendering with both at the same time is not possible yet.
In future, when new 2021.1 SDK will be ready, we will be able to Net Render, mixing CUDA and Metal Render-Nodes in the same Network environment.
ciao Beppe

Wake me up for 2021.1
netrender with PC and Mac will be game changing. Will Octane X and RNDR be in sync then as well?
Also- are there plans to run the plug-ins or standalone as Mac silicon native code?
