  • Denoiser support for the new NVIDIA Ampere devices.
  • ACEScg and filmic processing. New color options available in the Octane ROP node.
  • OpenColorIO Management, Display and Export (OCIO profile). Configured from the "OCIO" environment variable.
  • OpenColorIOColor graph nodes. Look, Profile and View nodes
  • Integrated multi-scatter from volumes or surfaces. Available in the Octane OBJ spare parameters.
  • User generated compositor AOV passes for combining render and light passes in full a compositor node graph.

Release Notes
=============================================
RELEASE 2020.2.0.4
=============================================

* PLUGIN FEATURES AND FIXES:

- Fixed a rendering crash on Linux related to the OCIO config.
- Fixed a problem with the output image filenames without extension in the path/prefix.
- Fixed a problem with the forced phantom and shadowless objects while rendering sequences in update scene mode.

* OCTANE 2020.2 FINAL FEATURES AND BUGS FIXED:
- Fixed auto bump map output which was incorrect for the geometries (mainly for polygon with more than 4 vertices) in clockwise winding order.
- Fixed denoiser output to be slightly brighter when the render layer is enabled.
- Fixed alpha channel which was incorrect when the raw pass in the render passes and the pre-multiply alpha in the imager settings are enabled.
- Fixed toon material showing artifacts when vertex displacement is used.
- Fixed CUDA failure when the scene contains a material with a vertex attribute texture and emission.
- Fixed null material not triggering an update when its smooth pin and its rounded edges pin changes.
- Fixed missing update of composite texture when input textures changed.
- Fixed emission pass which was mistakenly including volume absorption data along with emission data.
- Fixed brightness of emitters in the denoised result if an environment medium is used.
- Fixed normalized info passes of the render AOV output in compositing.
- Fixed AOV list of the render AOV output node.
- Fixed how instance IDs are computed from grid coordinates in Scatter in volume tool.
- Fixed a crash in the surface scatter node which happened when you choose mode "Relative density" and create a new texture node for the density input.

Happy rendering,
Your OTOY Team

so far so good! My wild scene that would instant crash on all previous builds is running very smooth.

now with OCIO and Denoiser!

Is there a way to preview luts/colorspaces in the IPR that I'm not seeing, or do we have to render to disc to see the differences?

Awesome!
Just one question, any reason I get this warning, had it for the last few RC versions too.
[OpenColorIO Info]: Color management disabled. (Specify the $OCIO environment variable to enable.)

As far as I know, the preview luts/colorspaces/ocio is always handled using the imager camera node in the render target. Now it even has an ocio view and look inputs to attach the oicio nodes and preview the ocio color spaces. In any case, the workflow is the same found in Standalone.

Thanks,

This comes from the Octane core, I think, probably due to the lack of the OCIO environment variable pointing to a valid ocio profile. If you are not using ocio, it is safe to ignore it.

Not yet. Now that the Octane 2020.2 version is almost ready, I'll continue working on it to have it ready ASAP.

Hi,
so what's the workflow to get ACES/OCIO to work in the IPR in Houdini? If anyone could shed some light on that, I'd appreciate that :)

Hey WoutTgt,

I figured out a solution to be able to view ACES through the IPR. I posted about it here:
