Hi all,
I have sent this message to support directly but thought i would also try here as it's very urgent i get this fixed.
I've been using c4d r19 and octane for a long time now. C4D crashed today (as it often does) when using octane. However when i restated this time the C4D splash screen freezes on the initialising plugins.
So, I moved all my plugins out of the the plugin directory and it launched fine. 1 by 1 i put the plugins back until i found the cuplrit. The Octane plugin.
So i removed all the plugins except octane and again it froze, confirming it was an octane plugin issue.
I have also tried deleting the credentials in appdata and as i also have R20 installed i tried the R20 octane plugin....and again it freezes in the same place.
I have not installed or updated any software in the last week so i have no idea why this decided to happen today. After a C4D crash.
All firewalls are off.
Desperate times.....
Any help appreciated
Chris

Hi Chris,
please try to use 7zip to uncompress the c4doctane archive, it is free:
https://www.7-zip.org/
Maybe the plugin got corrupted during uncompressing
ciao Beppe

Nope, wasn't anything to do with corrupted files. In fact it was originally the same dir i had been using fine.
It was this:
I ran the c4d console during startup (the nocrashhandler) and i noticed that it was compressing files whilst loading the plugin in the background. This based upon the last crash information!
The file within c4d file it originally crashed on was 3 gig in size. So it was simply compressing these again based upon the crash log files. If i had actually left it for an hour or two it would have eventually got past that phase. But i couldn't know this as it was just appearing to hang.
I simply went into the bug reports and deleted the large backup files in there. Then when i started up there was nothing to compress and it started fine.
Hope this helps someone in Future.
Thanks
Chris

Hi in case somone got this bug too and your "deleting bugreport" method doesnt work:
I had the same issue but only deleting bugreports didnt work. I started the C4D Commandline and saw that the c4dOctane-R21.xdl64 and c4dOctane-S22.xdl64 had the same id so cinema4d couldnt load them proberly. So i deleted the files in the c4doctane folder that i do not need (in this case S22).
Maybe i can help someone with this information ^^
