Teacher´s pet? Never heard such an expression, hehe... but i do understand, what you mean... i admit, if my problem was ignored, i would probably look at it differently.

But i know one thing, nobody is perfect... so if you are annoyed, cause Octane is not working, give Radiance more time, i tell you, he is doing his best. If he solved my problem, surely he approaches all his customers in the same manner. I didnt certainly get any preferential treatment, there was no reason, cause he does not know me. My problem was probably just easier to fix, others may not be so lucky, but again surely Radiance tries as hard as he did in my case.

Guys, you'd all think differently if new octane version was released yesterday.

We are all invited to see a powerfull software from its ground up developing process for a very small amount of money.
I you happened to finish a freelance job with the help of octane, you'd already get your money back and more just from a single job. :)
Then, there would be no problem at all right?

Like you I am and we are all waiting to get news from developers.
And one more thing. To help octane delelop faster we should spread the word. We have to create more and more great scenes/renders to show people the greatness and make 'em purchase.
More users more the income would give more investing on the project.
Why don't we stop posting on this thread and let them do the job..
Cheers,

Hi, As I said already somewhere: For my own, I have no problem with waiting more for next release, but I'd like at least to know if my bug reports have been taken in account.

It would be really a pain if the v6 is released with the bugs that I submitted some time ago, because currently, I still have to use 2.2 because of that. So far my latest two bug reports have had no response from Refractive team.

I perfectly understand that Radiance has more and more clients to satisfy and is really busy with coding and managing his company. I'm preventing myself from reporting the bugs by private message because I'm really sure that radiance does it's best, but no answer in the Commercial Support forum as well as in the Release Candidate Testing forum is a bit worrying...

Actually you're right and you might be wrong.

You might be wrong about bug reporting because I've seen many times that bug reporting did get response immediately many many times. Maybe what you could'nt got response about bug tracking
that has been in the time of office moving time or some other problem.
And you're totally very right because the forum has got bigger and bigger. There are times where I take too much time to find out where my problem has been talked about.

I really want a better bug reporting thread somewhere. Mostly bugs are reported at the release thread. From them, I got responses..
I suggest you to wait for the next build. When the developers will cope with this new kernel and release it. All would be okay I think.

The threads opened so far are client based threads. They sometimes fools us like this very thread.. When you read "Octane 1.23-v6" name. You just can't help opening the thread and see that it is a bogus thread. With questions when it will be release... Let's see.
On Oct 1st v5 is released
On Oct 11th this thread looks like its opened, What do you think the 1st question is... "..and when can we expect version 1.23-6 for tests" ...

Is it fine to ask for new build in 10 days? Absoultely Not!
We might ask of course but naming the thread as if it was released and/or to get attention.
I'm really pissed off about it. Paying 99€ doesn't make us the owner of the company.

I think refractive folks are somewhat pissed, too. What I sense is that they gave their precious time to develop things. Rather than answering when when when questions.

But I totally agree with you to have us a decent bug tracking thread. Maybe there might be a thread where Q&A are all tracked and submited with permission from refractive folks.
But they should put a person in charge for it. This means money. so an so forth..

Cheers.

Well indeed, That's what I meant with the customer support being great, you paid 100 bucks for a program that is and still in development and pretty good at that.. Take a look at some of the alternatives and look if they even want to help you...

I mean you get what you pay for, there has to be SOME comprimise somewhere, lack of customer support right now must mean that they're prioritizing fixing stuff and getting V6 out before they encounter more shit to solve wich will make the waiting even longer, and since this user base seems to consist of some very impatient people.. well... that might just be the right thing to do now.. Maybe I am talking nonsense here but.. It seems logical, it's either one or the other..

the 1.23v6 looks like more difficult to make than the dev would think.

how i am looking forward to have an octane render bound to maya by a renderman rib system..! (half kidding)

radiance i think tht some examples of rendered pictures with the new algorithm (even in pre-v0.1-alpha version) would be great for make us wait.

Hi, for all people who said 2.3 v5 works fine....can you help me with something? I have an scene and cannot render properly without it frezzed my CPU.
I noticed that the megasamples had decreased to the downlimit of 0.80 megasamples/sec with a maxlimit of 1.30 megasamples/sec. When the render reach the amount of 300 samples... it frezze my PC
I´m under W7, core2duo, 4gb ram, evga GTX 470, with latest drivers and cuda toolkit. By the way, i´m rendering at 500x700 pixels. Thanks :)

It can freeze up when you set Rayepsilon to 0.0000 and at the same time use transparency maps and/or bump maps in the scene.

You can also tell (if you notice it in time) that Octane is about to freeze up, when the megasamples/sec starts to get unstable.
When that happens to me, it is usualy a transparency map that Octane can't handle.
