Panning around with my default right mouse button generally hangs octane.
I thought that it was corrected in previous v4?
As this statement could be fixed soon. Can you offer a workaround to avoid this hanging crash ?
I'm not aware of any existing issue with panning and crashing.
can you refer to a previous post ?

I only get rare crashes when not doing anything fancy like playing with nodes, so I learned not to touch them so far..
Anyway this version of octane is truly awesome, and I actually earning my first 100 euro out of octane, , that's a good one. The light materials are uniquely awesome, I've made a studio scene with only two lights and I'm getting the best renders ever with almost no textures at all, only using two emitters and camera settings.. just playing with the lights realtime makes it a fast working software..
Still though, when is the new octane due, the broken workflow is slowing it down a bit not being able to make a new scene without loosing the previous setting - so I'm using the old relinking technique, still, great stuff people, great stuff..
Also you could include stuff like studio setups into octane live, sometimes in the future that would probably be version 3 I guess..

I get hangups (Octane process activity drops to zero, GUI freezes) occasionally on re-draw, when manipulating nodes (moving them around). It's not reproducible, it just happens randomly form time to time.

Afer saying that I got a crash while sliding the opacity of emissive material to 0.. I think had one like that before..

If you externally delete images referenced by some Octane material (you know you wont need them anymore), then try to load the scene containing the said material, Octane doesn't wont to load until you supply the textures. Clicking cancel aborts the loading. Basically you must create dummy textures (with the same exact name and type!) if you want to load that scene again...

If the user clicks cancel, just replace the texture with some default "texture not found" checkers node, or something..

Sorry Radiance,
But it's true. The issue got solved to some point with the release of v5.
Yes it seemed corrected in v4. But the release of v5 was too soon. So I started using v5. Fairly I didn't have enough time to fully test this issue with v4.
But i stand corrected about v5. Issue is back i must say.
Its not a crash actually mostly panning does not crash but hangs the software.
I kill the app myself.

By the way zooming the canvas with mouse roller sometimes does not work. no hang or crash but cant zoom in or out. if i zoomed before.
restarting octane gives 1 more chance to zoom again.....

So far using 2.3 v5, I am working on a file that assures crash every time.
Just by turning direct lightint to pathtracing, or adjusting any attributes, it suddenly freezes.
Have to force close, and reboot computer!
Because even if I want to force close it in the task manager in Windows (end process, or end process tree), it won't close.
And the GPU usage remains 99% even if it is not doing the rendering.

In addition, as quite some people had mentioned, it is not able to carry any texture/ light for animation rendering,
which means it is not usable for animation render, literally speaking.
Looking forward to the next new release.
