I get this in the dmp file
WARNING - DebugDiag was not able to locate debug symbols for octane.dll, so the information below may be incomplete.

In LIGHTW~1.DMP the assembly instruction at octane!Octane::ApiDBMaterialManager::operator=+460ea in C:\Program Files\NewTek\LightWave_2019.1.5\bin\octane.dll from OTOY® has caused an access violation exception (0xC0000005) when trying to read from memory location 0x00000000 on thread 75
This just happened out of the blue... i tried upgrading to the newest version and still encountered this problem.

Hi,

Can you please check in the plugin "About" window if you have the right plugin build for your LightWave version? If you can attach a screengrab of this window, I can check it myself. Also, do you know if Standalone (the same version that the plugin is using) works fine on this system? Perhaps you have a problem with the Nvidia drivers or something like that.

Thanks,

Are you sure that you don't have two Octane versions installed in the Layout at the same time? You should check if you have more Octane.dll files in your hard disk to be sure that there is only one. You can also check the Layout plugins panel to check if two plugins are loaded.

Thanks,

I've completely uninstalled lightwave and reinstalled and its still happening.

Definitely only one plugin installed.

Hmm, this is really weird. Have you checked if Standalone works fine on this system and if you can render something using it?

Thanks,

Octane standalone wont even launch. I run octane.exe and nothing happens... very strange.

Yes, this is something really weird. Perhaps there is a problem in this system with the GPUs or the NVIDIA driver. What GPU(s) do you have?

Thanks,

I have 4 GTX 1080 TI's.

Octane v2019.1.5.1 works just fine.

Hmm, so do you have this problem with Octane 2020.1 (both the plugin and standalone) only? This is really weird, especially if you are working with the latest drivers. Can you please double-check if Standalone 2019.1.5 works fine, while at the same time Standalone 2020.1 doesn't work at all? I wonder if something is missing in this new system, but the Octane Standalone installer should install all the needed libs for sure.

Thanks,
-Juanjo
