The crash on load is caused by XParticles. Remove it and you should be able to successfully load your scene again.

Now that I can load your scene, and I have removed XParticles from my Cinema installation, Octane will render a black frame. Is your illumination tied to XP?

I see the image in Live Viewer. It is a black mask rendered against black
Nice work on the mask, BTW.

You also have some bad UVs on the mask that you should take care of.

Thanks for the comment.
I'm aware of the issues on my mask (UV etc...) illumination is not tied with xParticles and I had crashed before using xParticles in my scene...
C4D is always crashing during an action, either a timeline scroll or a scene upload in LV

interacting with your scene inside of Cinema, with the Live Viewer open, does not cause any issues for me with your file. FYI, this file does not include a texture map, but I do not think that is factoring here.
In terms of your results, I can only speak to what I am experiencing with your file. XP was definitely causing the crash, and it is currently removed from my setup. Without XP I am not experiencing any of the issues you have noted. That is pretty strong indication that the issue is not Octane specifically.
I would recommend you remove XP from your setup and see if your issues still persist. Make sure you work with a copy of your scene, of course.

One more thing: you have far too many polygons on that object to describe its shape. Have you thought about retopologizing your mesh? You could reduce your scene requirements by orders of magnitude. and take advantage of the subdivision in the OctaneObject tag. You could use some of the sculpt commands in Cinema to derive a normal map that you could use for keeping a similar look. This will help you overall with Cinema, Octane AND XP.
