My friends,

why shadow catcher is not so dark?
is there a way to make it darker?

Here attached example comparison between vray, octane and clarisse.

Hi javierluisbravo,
are you sure your linear workflow is set correctly?

yes my friend...

i worked in LWF since ages with vray... For sure i am kind of new to octane.. as i started to use it i think 2 years ago..

i had no trouble with my LWF in octane since this 2020.1 version that the defaults changed and i want to start moving from linear srgb to linear ACEScg.

Thanks!

take a look to this...

for me is a clear issue in the contribution of the alpha channel of the shadow catcher...

Totally!

I used a Octane sun below the horizon to kill the shadows and i mapped it with and HDRI (gamma 1 for sure) in the texture... and i changed the dropdown from daylight to texture...
and the SIBL is working perfect now :) compared with Redshift and Vray.

Anyway there are gamma issues in the octane 2020.1 regarding the defaults... so i used gamma hack off and nonlinear off too.

Here comparison...

vray and octane working very close now :)

The best version is the AcesCG from clarisse .
it feels more natural and more real because all is AcesCG color managed...
