Hi

Is it possible to keep the outside area of the Render Region intact when rendering,

So you don't loose the overall picture and left only with a small portion?

Hi,

I just tested this on the latest version of the plugin and it depends on where you are rendering. If you are defining a region in the viewport, then the rest of the viewport is left blank for performance. This is how Blender works, not sure if the plugin would or should be different? But if you are doing a final render (F12) and define a region (Ctrl-b) then the rest of the image stays and only the region is refined. Is that what you were thinking about?

From my experience with other renders , It would be much more helpful if it didn't go blank , this way you can compare different bits and what changed.

But guess if that is how Blender works than Octane can't do much about that. Maybe it would be a good suggestion to the Blender devs.

Yes, that would be a nice change.
This is something doable in Standalone:

In the current internal build of Octane for Blender we've added the possibility to open the Standalone IPR Viewport. It ss only for debugging purpose right now, but the plan is to make all the options you can find in the Standalone Viewport available in Octane for Blender as well.

Does it mean you will be able to implement render region that won't hide the rest of the viewport contents?

To answer my own question :

I have noticed that if i select a render region in the outside Octane Render Window than it renders the
same selected region in the Blender viewport without hiding the rest of the image. Can be a workaround until you impliment it into the Blender Viewport.
