...as in, PC instantly loses all power as soon as the denoiser stage starts.

Need to switch off at the wall for a bit to let the PC get over it's heart attack.

Narrowed it down to having more than 1 graphics card ticked to do denoising. If only using 1 it's fine.

Using 2x 2080ti for colouring-in and 1 1060 for just the denoising.

Bit concerned that a setting in software can cause such a catastrophic and instant crash...

Win 10
Max r14 (don't judge)
Octane 2020.1 RC2 10.06
1200w psu
AMD Phenom ii X6 (again, don't judge  )

Hi Rik,
Just considering 2x 2080tI + GTX1060 + CPU they need around 950 watt
So your 1200 watt PSU is close to the line and to be considered really 1200 watt and stable in consumption peaks, should be at least GOLD plus otherwise when denoise starts your PSU will turn off.

Hmmm, maybe.

Here's a screengrab of the 2 2080ti's, 1060 and cpu.

max values
2080ti 192w
2080ti 202w
1060 143w
cpu 103w

total 640w

Also, once the 2080's have done the colouring in, they essentially shut down and hand over to the 1060 for denoising so I doubt those max power usage figures all happen together.

Anyway, it seems stable doing it this way so I'm happy. :D

Do you know why the memory on the 1060 card is filling up even before it starts the denoising stage?
It's getting pretty close to reaching its 6gb capacity :?

Hi Rik,
these value are not the maximum peak, but when denoise starts, the GPUs gets a maximum peak and your PSU wattage is not enough.
Keep in mind that after a few years the PSU wattage decreases.
