Hi

Just wondering if anyone has had the viewport become very slow while using IPR and have you found a way how to fix that?

Thanks.

I have not noticed this happening. Someone more knowledgeable than me might suggest looking at your software versions.
Here is the version of Blender and the Nvidia driver that are working for me.

Blender Octane 2.81.1 -

Octane v.20.7

latest nvidia driver 442.19

2 RTX 2080 supers

I have the exact same configuration except for the two 2080 RTX TI

Tried installing different versions of Blender with Octane. Same results every time.... :(

Wondering if this might be a Threadripper case...

Strange. Is it the same with Cycles?

I have heard nothing but good things about the Threadripper.
The one time I experienced slow tumbling was when first using my Ryzen 3900x on a file created on another machine with a very heavy file.
The work around was to append all elements into a fresh file. Then all behaved.

I just installed a 3960x a few days ago. I don't get this kind of slow down(free tier), however I did notice a 100% usage spike across all cores during tumbling.

Thank you ... Yes it seems that the problem is with the spike in CPU usage when tumbling.

Here's an example what happens to the processor load when i tumble in Octane vs Cycles.

Hello acoval,

Could you please try to turn off the SMT setting on BIOS and try again?

Cheers,
