Are there any chances LAZpoints plugin will be supported any time in the future for Octane render?
https://cinemaplugins.com/c4d-plugins/lazpoint/
Its not suitable for Octane at this time because Octane doesnt support "points" rendering...
Cheers!

It's supporting instancing and you can simulate "point rendering" with this.Kalua wrote: Its not suitable for Octane at this time because Octane doesnt support "points" rendering...

I have just bought this very useful plugin and load my Cloud point file.
Now I need to render in some way this object (also in white color) and I have the choice to generate XParticles / Multi-instances / Hair...
I hope this could be of interest of other users, so can someone give me a tips in order to do that?
Thanks a lot.

I think that there is no problem to render points in Octane using instance system ( tiny box driven by points positions for example ) but how to extract color data from LazPoint cloud and colorize this instanced box.
From LazPoint manual :
Points -Generates a C4D point object, with R,G and B vertex maps. display is managed by lazpoint itself, so you need to make editable, to work with the resulting point cloud.
Hair - LAZPoint turns into a hair generator. Connect it up to the hair shader, and you can render LAZPoint , as hair.
So you can colorize boxes based on vertex map color or use LazPoint hair shader if render them in Octane as hairs.
There is also LazPoint2 Multi-Instance shader in Material texture settings.
It works - set LazPoint to points and these Octane Scatter settings :

BTW where did you get such detailed cloud point files ?

Hi SSmolak
You are my genius!
Yes it works.
now next step would be:
1) try to render also colors
2) if not possible, to have a mesh of the cloud point in order to re-texture with my background photo (I need to realize often still images)
These Cloude Points are self generated using our drone.

No problem
For colors I think you should make material for cube or Octane Scatter and assign texture to it from texture-plugins-lazpoint-lazpoint multi-instance shader. Probably there will be need to change lazpoint from point to multi-instance mode. I don't know exactly because I had only demo without proper point cloud file.
For better results from close-up view probably will be better to use tiny sphere not box as instance object

...mmm
I have made many attempts but the results are always black colors, it seems that Octane can't use lazpoint multi-instance shader.
I can send you,if you want, my Cloud point file if you think is useful (and if you have time to try ...)
In other way could you teach me if I've setted correctly the lazpoint multi-instance shader?

Maybe try to add lazpoint multi-instance shader to the Octane Scatter Shader - just below vertex map and try copy this material to Octane Scatter too.
This drone is equipment with special laser camera scaner right ?

No, just a DJI with a camera, that shot thousand images, then a software elaborate all the images and make these cloud point that have a precision around 1cm.
Backing to our problem I've tried all your suggestions but nothing to do, Octane seems to not recognize lazpoint multi-instance shader.
Other idea how to put color on our points?
