Hi !
So I have this scene to replicate an Apple User office, with Macbook pro / screen etc.

Rhino is crashing everytime I use the Material Library, I guess, this is due to the Octane render plugIn, but I couldn't tell for sure.

If someone could have a look it will be a great help !

I can't figure out if the issue come from Rhino, the file, Octane, etc

I have updated Rhino / Octane and Nvidia Drivers

you can download the file here

Hi

Usually Rhino spend some time to display / detect materials in the material panel then freeze.
I have installed 2019.1.4.115 and 2019.1.4.114,
Prior to this installation the model gave me a Cuda core issue, which is why I upgraded it with the Nvidia driver to 441.41.
Windows 8.1
I7.4390K
32G DDR3
3x1080 ti

I have crashes with other files too, the files work fine in safe mode or without materials.
Rhino support confirmed no issue with the files I share to them.
Which narrow to Octane plugin or the Nvidia Driver.

I will now try to update Rhino, roll back Octane to 2018.1.3 and the Nvidia Driver.

Thanks for the info.

I opened that scene and accessed the Materials tab without error (although I am on the 2020.1 version of the plugin).

I am on the same Nvidia driver as you - 441.41

The only reason I can think of Rhino crashing is that there is a problem generating one of the Octane Material thumbnails. Can you disable thumbnails prior to accessing the Materials tab and see if that resolves your problem? Also try turning off 2 of you graphics cards.

I doubt 2018.1.3 will work anymore - as it is probably out of date.

I will release the 2020.1 version of the plugin in the next 24hrs - perhaps also try with it.

Thanks

Another thing to try is to switch the Rhino Current Renderer from OctaneRender to the Rhino Renderer. This will stop Octane from generating thumbnails on the Materials panel.

Hi !

So for some other reasons I ended up rebooting the OS with a fresh install of Windows 10 + latest Nvidia "Studio" Driver.
It is stable, even if I happen to notice a slow in performance while browsing Materials , especially especially with spectacular ones.

I guess it is a questions of an old platform

Thanks for the support, it works fine now.
