All my cloners and instances seem to be cloning ok, except for the tool that is supposed to be on these shelves. And it only doesn't clone at render time. I can't figure out why. If anyone can figure it out I would be much obliged.

I'm having a hard time understanding your issue, but have you tried adding an Octane object tag to your cloner and then resending the scene? That tends to solve a lot of issues between preview and rendering.

Sorry, I thought i had attached the scene file, but I guess not. Looks like it's giving me an error message that "the extensionc4d is not allowed. Lame.

Here is the scene file

Tried adding the octane object tag, but it still didn't work. Basically, when in the scene file, those shelves are supposed to be filled with these parts, but there is only one per shelf. Still troubleshooting but to no avail.

Couldn't test it well but it's likely related with render instances. Plugin doesn't support render instances in other render instances. It work on just one level render instances. Ex. you should make top level clone as render instance else contained instances.

I'll give that a try. Thanks so much!

Figured it out. Not only was it the use of instances, but cloner instances as well. The only time I could use instances was the top level, as long as I left it off for all the cloner children it rendered fine.

As an aside, is this something that can be worked on? Would certainly help on render time and keeping poly counts lower.

Thanks for all you do!

Hi,
my prefered strategy is to always use instance objects with render instance active (they point to original objects hidden inside a null) and always leave the render instance option unchecked for cloner object. This help also because you can select the different element at once and activate/deactivate the option ;)

Hey Bepe, what is the difference with cloning instance objects and render instance option on cloners? I didnt see any viewport performance or live viewer performance increase. Also in project info the polygon number was always the same. Can u elaborate on why u use this method? thanks

Yea beppe whats the difference? i keep having this problem too. my cloner objects wont render. and i just press buttons and move around things till it does or i give up. sometimes the object tag does the trick other times i do the same exact thing and it still wont show up.
