I have an alembic character with a case of the Jibbs.
Displacement on the mesh seems to interact and display triangle-shaped glitches with Ray Epsilon and zooming distance in the viewport.
Strange because the same exact copy of the material on a primitive sphere, right next to the character, renders clean, where as the character renders with the displacement glitches ("jibbs").

Zoom Far - Infected with Jibbs
Jibbs_Far.jpg
Zoom Medium - Some Jibbs, not as severe
Jibbs_Medium.jpg
Zoom Close - No Jibbs

Can I send in scene for review, I already troubleshooted the mesh but no Octane 'scene' settings affect.
Thx

Is not a near clip plane issue on the camera? the mesh from character is to close to the body? I can see yours settings is at "0" and "infinity" I usually set thoses with a number to not have issues. maybe?

Best,

Hello, I did test, but it confirmed it is not related to clipping plane.

The thing here is that the sphere is not getting the glitches while the mesh is.
And so fine, once can assume it's a problem with the mesh then, right?...

BUT - the mesh shows them when far away, yet not when zoomed in. So what does that mean...
And, the sphere never shows glitches at any zoom-level despite having the same material (including same exact displacement.)

So, seems somehow Octane cannot not properly 'handle' the mesh I am using here.

Really Interesting maybe yes send the scene on personal to the dev team maybe they can see the Bug. :)

Hi Guys,

One question about it instances type on the alembic like on this post viewtopic.php?f=33&t=71853&p=365558#p365558 I didn't had any reply on this.

Basically Octane 3.06 support both type of instances but not OC4.05 or 2018's as well 2019's Please take a look something broked there and this gave issues on workflow using instances :)

Best,
JO

Hey guys. I am getting an all GPU failed message when enabling emission on a shader(diffuse mat with texture emission). If it doesn't fail right away, it fails when I check Double Sided Emission. I also have an odd problem with the render size changing and not obeying my established 1920x1200 size. Just wanted to mention these since its not under the known bugs category. Thank you)
