For some reason when I render my titan xp that is displayed card and is only used for denoising gets its vram filled up to the max. is it a bug ? I dont remember previous versions doing it
I noticed display cards vram gets fully used when a scene is big with a lot of mesh. Tried it even with the denoiser off. Not sure why octane uses all vram of a display card. out of core doesn't work for some reason when vram is used borderline.
Also if I let an active 2080ti denoise I get this error Not sure if vram limit causes
OctaneRender 4.04 (4040000)
CUDA error 999 on device 1: unknown error
-> failed to copy memory to device.
device 1: failed to copy mesh to device
CUDA error 999 on device 0: unknown error

Hi, coilbook ! Could you share your hardware config ? I want to upgrade my PC and I'm looking for cooling solutions.

The master is just gygabite gaming 9 mother board with 2 cards and we also have netstor turbobox attached that currently hold 2 cards but will hold 2 more. For some reason aorus gaming 9 bios doesn't have above 4g decoding to support more than 4 cards
I think the best bet is to go with supermicro or some other enterprise level mother board. Out slaves are supermicro SYS-4028GR-TRT2 with 10 GPUs each and are much better when we used to have gaming mother boards.
ooookey... thanks

Hi coilbook,
Your monitors, OS, 3dsMax and geometries filled the Titan Xp VRAM.
Denoiser get around 450MB Titan xp VRAM + RAM needed to denoise.
As I can see you are using a total 52GB RAM, if 2080TIs try to work using out-of-core and the RAM needed is not available, then you will have that CUDA error.

So after a reboot when I start rendering my vram usage on display card goes from 1 Gb to full usage of all 12 gb. This titan xp is only used for display and it is totally inactive in octane even for denoising. It usually happens with very large scenes that use around 8-9gb of 2080ti vram.
I am not sure why octane uses all vram of a display card because when I stop rendering vram drops back to 1 gb. GPU load is only 2% so octane uses vram for some reason.
I think it is a bug or something
THanks

Hi coilbook,
3dsMax file uses Titan XP VRam, so it's quite logical your very large scenes fill all Titan xp VRam.
it seems strange to me Titan Xp Vram empties when you interrupt the render.
Are you sure?
