I am running the latest revision of Rhino, Octane 4 and Octane plugin for Rhino and noticed that
Rendered viewport preview is broken - everything shows dark grey, not color, no textures etc.
Any thoughts?

Yes - you need to open the Octane tab before you can view OctaneRender materials in the Material tab. The nexty version of the plugin pops a warning message to tell you this.I just tried the same trick of flipping over to the Octane tab and converting all Rhino materials to Octane (they were already Octane),
and the details for each material appeared as normal when selected?
Thanks for providing the sample file. I think this is happening because of the same reason above. If you click on the OctaneRender tab prior to loading the scene, the Rhino Rendered viewport seems to pick up the textures. I will see if I can find a solution.1. The viewport does not simulate material color/textures anymore (it did so very briefly one time) - everything appears grey as in attached screenshot.
2. The Octane rendering does not render mapped textures correctly - to work around I had to recreate all textured materials as Rhino materials, then convert them to Octane, and they correctly rendered (however I still cannot preview them in the viewport).
