Hey, very excited for this update!
Testing the volumetrics and can't seem to see any difference from v4 whether or not the "emulate old volume behaviour" button is ticked. ( I assume this is the correct button)

I've found that trying to use vectron freezes C4D for me (OS X High Sierra 10.13.6). At least one other user has confirmed the same.
The program was freezing as soon as I tried to modify the vectron object in any way with the live viewer open. I then found that I could create an object, set it to mandelbub, and change the power BEFORE rendering in live viewer, then I was able to see and move around the object, but as soon as I tried to change parameters (I tried to increase the power) it froze again. Anybody else?

I replied that legacy volumes don't seem to be less noisy but that new ones do, but I seem to be wrong. They behave differently, but the noise and speed seem the same to me upon further testing.rleuchovius wrote:Hey, very excited for this update!

So how do we create a volumetric light?
Nevermind I see someone asked it earlier, no ready yet, I guess.Spectron and Procedural Volumetric Lights
Octane Spectron is a procedural lighting system enabling artists to create procedurally driven volumetric lighting - like spot lights - with blockers, barn doors, gels (in the distribution pin) and more.
We introduce a basic procedural light node type in 2018.1 XB1 which can be used for quick volumetric effects and spot light generation - more can be built on this framework once RC1 is completed with the full Spectron API.

Do you guys plan to add support for the Ray Tracing features of the RTX series GPUs?
Yes, same here, MacOs 10.13.6 Vectron freezes c4d r19SRCOBB wrote:I've found that trying to use vectron freezes C4D for me (OS X High Sierra 10.13.6). At least one other user has confirmed the same.

I'm getting kind of a weird thing...
C4D R20. Live Viewer works fine. Picture Viewer only has my HDRI environment, no objects. Doesn't matter what I do.
FWIW, I'm using Voronoi fracture on a high poly mesh, but like I said, renders great in the Live Viewer (far faster than 4.01 as well). I'll do some additional testing to see if it's just my wacky objects or if there's actually an issue with this build.
In the mean time, thoughts?

I think this is a bug with R20 and not Octane. My Voronoi mesh is animated. Yes, it rendered in 4.01, but I can't bake it to alembic and get animated frames out. And only these objects come up blank in the picture viewer with Octane 2018.1 RC1.bagel wrote:I'm getting kind of a weird thing...
