It seems that I loose the connection to the oct-file.

1. I create a scene and use the exporter.
2. I change the material in Octane and then save & quit
3. Back in Softimage I press render once again and all the material-settings are gone in Octane. (If I reload the scene inside Octane everything is fine)

Does anyone else have this problem?

All have this problem.
You must use a material macro for every material in your scene. After reload in Octane, it works.

ah, thanks! I obviously should have read the manual before I started asking questions. :)

Some scenes, that works. Others it doesn't.

Now it works, but I did nothing different and now everything seems ok. If I figure out what it was, I'll post the problem and hopefully the solution.

Face, can you help me? I keep running into big crashing problems when switching to Octane from XSI. Sometimes a scene that worked great will suddenly crash Octane, or give me that nodegraph assertion error. Is that error related to something done in XSI, or is it Octane's bug? I'm shading my objects at the partition level.

I'll post a scene if needed.

I get the nodegraph error, if i connect non material macros in and reload the scene.
You must create a material macro, double click on it and connect you material (glossy, diffuse, specular) in the output pin.
After that you can connect your material macro in you mesh.

So what you are saying is, when just a base material is plugged in to the mesh, it becomes unstable. When the desired material is inside a "material macro" it works.

First, release strands for 2010+ (near)
Second, the same for 7.0 & 7.5
Third, integration the scene scaling for 6.5 - 2011.5
