I'm looking for a way to change my canvas size without changing perspective.

For instance a client wants 500 extra pixels on either side of the image but wants the camera perspective to remain the same. This is asked for regularly when creating content for print or web.

Another example would be if you are rendering onto a huge backplate where the cg content is very small relative to the backplate. Usual situation for me is a car on a large backplate. In this case you would reduce the canvas size so you don't have to render all that dead space.

Hi,
a fast workaround should be to use the shift x parameter in the Thin Camera at 1, or -1, use the Frame Render Region of the desired length, and compose in ps with the original frame.

Octane will keep the horizontal viewing angle constant when changing the aspect ratio of the rendered image.

If you add horizontal pixels, you have to make the horizontal viewing angle wider, the easiest way to do so is with the ‘scale of view’ input, multiply that number with the ratio between new and old (you can type simple expressions directly into any numeric input).
