Tried now all possibilities, but can't get to proper texture on an object which I've done with extruding...
Ctrl-A and UV unwrapping don't do any changes on this mesh:
Any ideas how to fix this?

What's you material setup? How does the UV map look like?

I could sort it out with the Smart UV command...though seems not perfect at some edges....looks like stretched...
The material is just from LiveDB, called polished concrete...

You can try Octane Box projection mapping to see if it helps along with Transform nnode to place and scale it correctly.
If it doesn't satisfy you the correct UV map will help for sure. Don't forget to apply scale to you model before unwrapping it. More on UV mapping you can find below and many other tutorials on the net:
