Hi,

Is there currently any way of bringing a material saved in the Unity version (Orbx) into the 3dsmax plugin? I have a Localdb with a lot of materials but the 3dsmax version does not recognise any of the orbx files. They work fine in the standalone version.

Thanks.

Hi MDFutm,
you should to save your Octane materials in Octane LocalDB folder (C:\Documents and Settings\(your account name)\AppData\Roaming\OctaneRender\localDb), then import them into 3dsMax material editor.

Thanks for your reply. I have already got them saved in the Localdb from the Unity version. Is there something specific I need to do to import them? When I open the Localdb in max the folder structure doesn't even show up.

I think there is a problem with the location of the Localdb. I changed the location in the Tools section in the render setup and when you click the button to 'Explore localdb' it takes you to the right location. In the preferences_v2 file the database is listed in the correct place but still nothing will show up in there. I have just dropped a material in the db location in the AppData\Roaming\OctaneRender\localDb folder and it shows up. Is there somewhere else that I can change the location of this folder?

The situation is still the same. Anyone know a fix for this?

Still no solution to this? I mean, yeah, there's the workaround of having your materials hauled to the C:\ drive, but if you have a large library, it becomes impossible to have them all on your limited space C:\ partition. This should really be a simple thing to fix, it's very frustrating.

Hi,
not a Max user, but have you tried to open Standalone and change the path of LocalDB, in Preferences/Application?
ciao Beppe
