Octane won't start r20

I use the subscription version of Octane for OSX, and have downloaded standalone version 4.0 RC5 and the plug-in for c4d. When I start c4d r20 I get an error message:

"Wrong Octane Version! You need regular version files to run the plug-in"

How can I fix this?

As message said you have regular version's files in where plugin looks to. Please check your installation again!

so which files go where in r20? I did the normal install, putting the c4doctane folder into the r20 plugins folder, and inside the c4doctane folder are the following files:

c4dOctane_r20.xlib
c4dOctane-r20.xlib
liboctane.dylib
octane.dat

and the res folder

what's wrong?

Why do you have two plugin dlls?
Delete everythings and extract plugin archive file.

I have those two files because that's what's in the folder when it's unzipped

just leave only one of R20 xlib file indifferently.
The directory should look like this:

should I leave the one with the underscore or the one with the dash?
