I think that it would be useful to hide the connecting lines on the nodegraph. Once everything is connected with each other, sometimes hiding the connecting lines would help in finding what is needed.

This can be solved by doing 2 things:
1. Buy a 4K (3840x2160) monitor, your resolution seems small and it hurts your creative freedom. They are not expensive anymore and this will greatly enhance your productive powers.
2. Create what I call 'passthrough' nodes to link stuff through, see the 2 pics I took attached.
In the Octane interface it can't handle if you try to create a passthrough node right away, I figured out the following workaround:
- Create 2 material nodes
- Create a group from these 2 nodes
- Go inside the group
- Delete the 2 material nodes and THEN in there create the input/output nodes and link them up
