it seems it is impossible to input an existing material. Is this correct? And can this be used as a layer material like in v-ray? As it is now it looks like it's the same as the mix material with more inputs instead of 2.

What would be great is to have a stacking system instead of blending. IE, if Mat1 is a clear glass spec material and Mat2 a diffuse green, I would have a combined glossy green with both materials stacked on top of eachother and100% visible instead of a mix between values.

hi,

I agree with this, it would be really useful to use a "simple" material in Blend material system...

Because all the libraries already created are to be redone to be used in the current blend system.
Or use only the BlendMaterial system even for a simple mat?

The blend material is really very useful and effective but this small trick is annoying ;)

It's not possible because "sub-material" is not a material to C4D system, just texture type. But Octane material is material type, so cannot connect a material to another material while having a texture slot.
Only possible solution is to bring a converter for Octane material to Sub-material.

Is it a bug that there is no dispersion in the specular sub-material when using the new blend material?
Is there any documentation on this blend material anywhere to be found I've been googling all day with no luck.
Why do you need document? Everythings is same as in Octane materials.

I don't know how to better explain the need for better documentation than exactly this. Everything looks clear to the guy who created it, but it is not so simple for us others to figure it out. I might be stupid, but instead of telling me everything is simple and the same, could you just, please, tell me where you put dispersion in the specular sub-material, I can see a dispersion tab in the first, but I can't see one in the second. Here is what I am looking at:

Hi,
thank you for your answer, it's understandable.

Yes, it would be cool to have something that makes both systems less "hermetic".

I didn't talk about dispersion question, more general in concept of materials. As i said that it should have same parameters(with a simplification). Here, i think i missed to activate the dispersion tab in sub-material. I'll fix it.

@Ahmet is this 3.08(latest stable) build on the latest standalone SDK, 3.08.1?
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=67352
Got a bit confused about the numbering.

Better to stay with standalone 3.08 without 3.08.1 plugin released.

So it is 3.08 plugin and not 3.08.1?
Will there be a 3.08.1 plugin before v4?
Thanks!

Stay with 3.08s. And give me time to complete my works.
