Hello!
I'm currently working on a project in Cinema 4D with Octane 3.07.R2 and I'm using Nuke for compositing.
I want to control the Z-depth in post but Octane doesn't render out a perfect aliased z-depth pass. I get blurred edges. The anti-aliasing becomes depth etc.
My best workaround that works is to enable "Disable partial alpha" and re-render the whole scene. That seems like a waist of time and you can't set up different render settings for "Disable partial alpha" , because it's under the CameraImager tab and the Kernel tab is the only one you can change with different render settings.
Any tips for rendering a complete EXR file with all my passes and correct Z-depth pass in one EXR-file to save time?

Aliased Z-depth pass wihtin one EXR file?
Hi Victor,
in general, the Disable partial alpha option is related with the Keep Environment option, below the Alpha channel option, in the Kernel settings.
If you need to rerender an info channel pass, after have already rendered the beauty, you can set the kernel sampling at 1, since the info passes have an independent sampling setting in the Multi pass tab.
ciao Beppe

Thanks Beppe!
So, the only way to get a proper aliased z-depth pass is to re-render like I do, but use 1 sample in the Kernel tab to speed it up?
Or is there another way to get all my passes and an aliased z-depth pass in one EXR-file?
If not, this really should be an option in a future update.
Thanks for the help again, Beppe!

Ok!
For some reason my method didn’t work yesterday. This is really confusing now.
Can you tell me or maybe point me to a guide how to render an aliased z-depth pass? Is it even possible?

Hi.
You need to change the Sampling mode value in the Info Channell Pass Render Settings: ciao Beppe
