Not necessarily an Octane question directly but just got this model from Turbosquid and wanted to play with it in the renderer. The obj comes in jagged like the left image. When i add a subdivision surface it becomes too smooth and neither look like the original model over grey. Any suggestions on what i could adjust in the import settings or afterwards?
The model came with the maps pictured but i've tried all the different mapping techniques and they all come in in a funky way still.
Textures not mapping correctly

Hi,
from the texture previews, it seems that you need proper uvs to use the Displacement and obtain the desired details, so you should only use the Mesh UV projection.
Please, post a screenshot of the current uv of the mesh.
About the smoothing, do you have a Normal tag attached to it?
If yes, try to delete, and also check the Phong algle settings.
ciao Beppe

Hi sorry what is the Mesh UV projection? Can't seem to see it in the material anywhere under Projection. I just have a texture tag, uv and phong tag. Tried cranking the phong tag
to 180 which smoothes things out a bit but it's still not the same look as the original preview image.

Hi,
UVW Mapping in c4d == Mesh UV in c4doctane.
You need to check the uv of the mesh with the textures you have.
ciao Beppe

It's bad but i just don't think i'm doing something correctly and unclear how to map these images correctly. Hoping someone can actually shed some insight into the process.
