Doing a bit of testing, trying to get a good see through plastic. I am wanting to use the falloff node to control the scattering.

here is my node setup....
ScreenClip.png
I have a white texture and a black texture through a mix node. With the mix at zero percent. This is what it looks like
Zero.jpg
At 100%, it looks like this.....
100.jpg
So I want to control this with a fall off. Which I have set to min 0 and max 1. But when I plug this into the mix, I get this...

What they hell am I doing wrong?

Hi,

What are your settings in the falloff node?

Cheers,

just the defaults. 1,0 and 6 (although I want it to be 10). there is a massive increase in how bright the surface is. Surely 1, should equate 100% mix, which should mean that part should just look like the surface does in the 100% image.

I'm not sure what could be the problem. If you want to share the scene, I could take a look at it here.

Thanks,

I’ll package it up when I get home. How do I send it to you? :)

Thanks, I've reported this issue to the Octane devs, because it sounds like a core issue to me.

OK, thanks. So am I right in my assumption that this should allow me to blend between the two? And I wasn’t doing anything wrong?

Yes, this is what I understand. To me, it seems some kind of issue on the Octane side with this shader setup.

Thanks,
