Hey there,

i want to render some volumetric lights. Octanes Problem in this field is that it produces a lot of noise near the light source. Adaptive sampling would be ideal to get rid of this noise, but even at 1020 Samples (which is the maximum) the noise is so bad that the algorithm fails and keeps black spots because it considers them as noisefree. Is 1020 a random number and could this be increased?

Yes, the min samples can be increased. Select it and just type in a value without using the slider.

But this value is stucked at 1020 in the MAx plugin...did I read it wrong? or is there a way to increase it too?

Sorry,

Christophe will fix this in a future Max plugin release.

In Standalone, The minimum adaptive sample can be set up to 1 million. But I restricted the maximum slider value to 1024 because I thought 1024 is good enough and I'm wrong. To make things clear, I will remove the slider restriction in next release.

In the Blender plugin the slider stops at 1024, but you can click on the slider and set it to what you need.
