Hi darkline,
I apologize for my delay but I had a lot of issues to check out.
I made this file and a video. I hope it helps to understand the workflow.
I do not think you can have an object that blocks light and simultaneously captures the shadow, so in your case you should take two steps.
Shadow catcher, which works essentially as a layer ID, needs to be disabled.
Regards
Paride

Hi Paride,
Thanks for taking a look. However, in the video I sent you none of the objects had a material with shadow catcher on them. I only used the render layer system. I did have objects with a camera mapped material so maybe that was the confusion, but I did not use shadow catcher. But I'll take a look at this file later and see if it helps, really appreciate it.
If, as you say this is something that cannot be done in a single step, is there somewhere i can post this as a feature request because I would think most people using octane for VFX work will want to composite shots onto existing footage and be able to have shadows fall across objects in the scene.

Hi darkline
I give it a try, but it is not a direct render, composited in AE...
