https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive and then select the Unity 2017.1.0 version.

That should not interfere with the working of Octane for Unity.
I am going to take a look at it though. Thank you for the report.

Hi. I wanted to give Octane for unity a try. Is this information still the latest? I need to downgrade to Unity 2017.1?

I can't download Octane ver 1.1 (Download timeout. No data received for the past 20 seconds). I have connection but kinda slow, please fix or provide full installer installation-wide, thanks.

Having a slow internet/low bandwidth is not necessarily the cause of the timeout. Connection loss is more likely. Using a vpn might also cause the issue.
Ill check if we can add a re-connect when the timeout happens.

I just downgraded the freshly installed Unity 2017.3 to 2017.2.1 to try this after some dll-errors, but now I get the above error stating that I have no valid license. Should that still happen? It was advertised that I am able to use and test for free.

Edit: I have read the docs on unity.octane.com but no real help there. If I try to login with the Octane account the above happens. If I try to login with my Unity account nothing happens and I get the following error message in the console:

Code: Select all

Failed: System.InvalidOperationException: Unexpected response from server.
UnityEngine.Debug:LogError(Object)
Edit: If I try to activate Octane via the "Account" button in PBR Settings (clicking on "activate") Unity crashes completely. Every time.

Edit: You have to do a lot better to expect me to pay money for this ...

Regards,
Xanathon

An Unexpected response from server. usually means there's an issue with the EULA or (the connection with) Unity's servers. Did you get any other log messages accompanying this one?

Not in the console and not in the Octane log.

We'll check to see if we can find any issues with your licenses
