According to my team it doesnt work.

You have to change the kernel to "info channel", and the render out separately.
We are using Deadline for Render Management and it doesnt work unless you do the above (which is just like rendering the scene again).

Also, can I please know what version of Maya this has been tested with?

We still run 2016 SP5 since any higher gave us weird results with Octane (Freezing in the nodegraph etc)

I use Maya 2014 and maya 2016sp6 and yes it works, you have to activate the "tonemaping" option in render setting/pass section if you need a 8 bit zdepth pass or to check the pass in IPR.
And for a EXR passes the z-depth max attribute as this is high depth pass.

But I agree this is very very confusing, (was also confused myself because in V3 there's no such thing as this "tonemapping" option, so I forgot about it in V2)

I am using V3 currently but will check again in this V2 version later if there is still any problem with the zdepth pass.

Hi Jim, my render with octane v3 hangs randomly with the next error: CUDA error 700 on device 2: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> kernel execution failed(report)
CUDA error 700 on device 2: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to launch kernel(ptBrdf2)

I dont have this problem with V2, all my scenes render till the end without problems.

Hi there!
Is there any way I can get this version up and running on Maya 2014?

Hi there Churumbela,

So sorry, Octane Render for Maya 2.26.1 - 7.20.5 version requires at least Maya 2015 running.
Kind Regards

Is there any chance that v2 of Octane for Maya will get a quick update to support Maya 2018 and 2018.1?

Thanks for the post.
MTECH, I am really sorry !! We cannot go back to v2 version anymore since there are huge improvements in V3 including the licensing. We hope you would understand.

And we have already started working on refactoring the Octane for Maya plugin.

Would you like to go for an upgrade to v3 or use the monthly subscription for $20?
Kind Regards

While it's unfortunate for my situation, I do understand. Octane and the Maya plugin are at a point where they will solidify moving forward, but that means leaving the older versions behind out of necessity. Right now my company/studio is sort if in flux, so our software pipeline is frozen where it is at the moment with v2. I haven't decided yet on how I want to invest for my own personal use.

Hey Mtech,

Sorry again for your situation. As you know, this is the nature how it works in this technological world. We always improve/solidify and move forward to give the best product.

We truly want our customers to move forward with us, so have we fair price of $75 for upgrading to v3, and it's further features, updates, and support.
Kind Regards
