C4d Octane v3 and the Shadow Pass
Moderators: ChrisHekman, aoktar
Hello, I use the Octane Plugin for C4d since two Months. Now i know the Basics and I want to compose something with octane but I cant find the normal shadow pass. I downloadet the v2 Plugin and there is the pass but when I use v2 my my whole project get messed up. Under Render Layer are only the Black shadows. colored shadows and reflectons channel.
Have you read over the manual page for render layer?

Hi johfisch,
yes correct, it seems that the c4doctane plugin has skipped that pass from 3.06, probably because a new general Shadow pass has been added in the Beauty passes.
You need to roll back to 3.05.3 if you absolutely need that pass: Anyway, there is not any particular difference between the Shadow and Black Shadow pass in Render Layer. The only difference is that the Shadow pass need to be multiplied, while the Black Shadow pass works immediately since the shadows are masked by alpha channel.

Hi johfisch,
did you enable the Alpha channel option in the kernel settings?
Please, have a look at this other discussion with example scene:
