Did you try on an older version of C4D? It can be a spesific issue to number and osx.
Octane For Cinema 4D developer / 3d generalist

3930k / 16gb / 780ti + 1070/1080 / psu 1600w / numerous hw
I did!
Both previous versions. I was hoping .057 would be the one to fix
I have iMac 5K 27" with Akitio Node eGPU (with a GTX 970 inside) working fine with same version numbers of everything...
Macbook has always done the same.
Is GT 750M too underpowered? Not intending for the Macbook to be a rendering workhorse, but would like to be able to see my Octane scenes ok for quick viewing and roughs...
Thanks!

Think I may have found the issue...
If I don't set the Renderer in C4D to Octane I get the crash. If I switch to Octane from Standard before dropping the cube into the scene I don't get the crash.
Windows version doesn't crash in the same situation so must be an OS X quirk....
