Lots of users emailed me about such problems. If someone is a PC builder and uses a gaming stuff for a pro workstation - sooner or later issues will occur. PS And the deluxe is one of worst choices for a gpu rendering machine ...HuttonMiller3D wrote:I purchased two custom PC's from a well known builder...got them with X99 Deluxe Mboards. Crap crap crap. My experience with Customer Support is also bad. Not happy with the custom pc builder either....Xotic PC...

How about this build sheet? Been using these threads for a guide. I went with the ASUS mobo because I need a bunch of USB to plug into, this will be a workstation and I couldn't plug everything I need to into the supermicro boards without usb hubs (I'm not supposed to use hubs with some of the stuff). Will the bios need to be custom for this to work? I was hoping to use a standard sized case to save space but wasn't sure if that was an option with the hybrid cards? Also, will adobe, cinema, mocha, etc. work ok with windows 8.1 do you know? A little scared about that but want to get as much render power as possible. I couldn't get the pc parts picker site to put 4 video cards on there but the plan is for 4 1080ti. I've built my last 4 workstations but this one worries me a bit so any feedback is appreciated from the folks who build quad video setups in their sleep.
thanks in advance!

Don't waste time checking out that build sheet, posted too fast
Looking at other options now.

The Core X9, psu, ssd, and memory are all solid.. Hopefully you scrapped the cpu fan, which would be silly when you can easily slap a H100 or other 240mm rad in x9, and still have room for four hybrid rads.
I know smicha really seems to not like Asus mobos, and uses ASRock when possible..... the hell is that bloke anyhow?... haven't seem him in weeks I think...

Nice, thanks for looking!
So I've actually switched gears and am now considering the Netstor NA255A, putting 2 1080 TI in my workstation, then moving my 2 Titan X cards into the Netstor with 2 more 1080 TI. My current build with the 5960X I7 is just over a year old and I don't really need another workstation, this is just for render power and the Netstor and 4 1080 TIs will come in at over $1000 less than building the core x9 machine and I can just plug all this in and run with it. It also sounds like I can just switch it off when it's not being used and save on power and heat.
A little worried about heat and and the 1200W PSU but this is just a render farm for motion graphics and VR stuff so I don't think I'll overload or overheat it but I can't be certain.
My X99 deluxe does support enabling 4G 64 bit PCI processing in the bios but I'm not sure if I need to enable it with the Netstor, waiting on ASUS tech support to open in the morning, but they may or may not be able to answer my question
thoughts? I know this has been covered from my searches but it's hard to sift thru all 184 pages of netstor postings in the search results.
I go down this hardware rabbit hole at least once a year and waste enough time to build 8 machines. I have no idea why I like researching parts so much...
