Hello everyone, it's seems that in near future I will need to buy a new workstation for 3D and Octane especially, I'm thinking of quad GTX 1080 setup, but I'm really confused at this point, first of all Idk how powerful my PSU should be (with i7-6850K and 128 gb ram), but I can calculate it later, there's more important question, how on Earth do you cool 4 gpu's in one case? I think watercooling is essential here, but maybe it'll be okay with reference air cooling?

If somebody has the experience, please share, that's really important at this point.

Go at least with hybrids.
3090, Titan, Quadro, Xeon Scalable Supermicro, 768GB RAM; Sketchup Pro, Classical Architecture.
Custom alloy powder coated laser cut cases, Autodesk metal-sheet 3D modelling.

EVGA Hybrids, 1300W or better Gold or Plantinum PSU -- I love mine, which I stated in another thread, an hour ago -- and smicha would agree that EVGA Supernova line and SuperFlower brand (if available where you are) are the shizz.

As we have discussed in a couple 4-GPU threads now, you pretty much can't go wrong with: Thermaltake Core X9 case, four EVGA Hybrids, an i7 CPU model that gives 40 PCI-E lanes, and a nice big-ass PSU like the EVGA Supernova 1300W or greater.

And you are correct, that watercooling is essential, if one wishes to render full blast and not be sweating bullets about their GPU temps. Folks that poo-poo hybrids or custom loops probably have never had either. They are worth every last damn penny extra.

Hope this helps.
Win10Pro || GA-X99-SOC-Champion || i7 5820k w/ H60 || 32GB DDR4 || 3x EVGA RTX 2070 Super Hybrid || EVGA Supernova G2 1300W || Tt Core X9 || LightWave Plug (v4 for old gigs) || Blender E-Cycles

Thanks!

So 4 gpu radiators from hybrids and 1 cpu radiator will fit easily in that Thermaltake Core X9 case? I'm watching it now, looks like it can do it.

It fits 7 gpus :) so no worries about 4 :)

Holy! This is amazing! I meant tho that 4 hybrid gpu's will have 4 own radiators and cpu cooler will have one with at least 2-fan rad. Anyway I see that there's plenty if room in that case, damn :D

But keep in mind that you need 9 separate 8 pin cables to connect these hybrids, that is why I always am persistent in recommeding best power supplies, not just looking at wattage. EVGA 1600W P2 is excellent or Superflower 1600W titanium

Just make sure you get a proper motherboard for 4 gpus...

At this point I chose ASUS X99-E WS as a motherboard and Corsair AX1500i Serie 1500 Watt 80+ Titanium PSU.

I'm careful now with gibabyte mobo's, since I bought 2 defective in a row :?
In my current home PC I have asus x99-deluxe and it's been amazing all the time, from the performance to the software, so it's the brand I trust now (I also have asus GPU and monitor). Why do you think it might be a problem?
