Hi all,
Working on an animation where some polygons flip to reveal an image.
Anyone know if it's possible to have the polygon transparent on the reverse side and only visible when the image on the other side flips and is revealed?
So far I've tried a mix material of the image and transparency using a side node. Doesn't work.
Tried applying two textures to the same poly; image to front and transparency to back. Doesn't work.
I could animate the transpancy of the object itself but that would involve a hell of a lot of work - I've several animations to do, all involveing lots of polygons.
Not sure if this is possible but would appreciate any tips / advice.
Thanks.
Make a polygon transparent on one side?

Hi tonygold,
please, look at the attached images, mix texture in Opacity with Side shader in amount: ciao beppe

Ciao Bepe!
Thank you very much for the reply and screenshots.
I'm sure I tried something similar but I think I missed the rgb spectrum. (I'm us d to changing opacity of a material in c4d by using the greyscale slider of opacity). I assume that's how you make a transparent material in octane too, just an rgb spectrum node in the opacity?
Thanks again.
Tony.

Hi Tony,
it depends from the opacity of the second side. If you need to have a solid side, you need to have a white color, RGB or grayscale does not matter. The Side shader will assign the two different opacity state to both sides based on the normal direction.
