Hi guys,
just received this report from another user and might to be useful to other Mac Os X users:
.039 actually booted but not totally stable.

I finally got this back from a friend at C4D...

-------
There's a bug in Nvidia's web GL driver. You can currently avoid it by
- removing the libosmesa.dylib distributed with Cinema and located in resource/libs/osx/mesa
- not using the NVIDIA driver but Apple 's Nvidia driver (which might not work with your 1080)
- staying on OS X 10.12.3 (where we disabled Mesa, as Apple's Nvidia driver had the bug that 's currently still present in Nvidia's web GL driver)

Nvidia is working on a fix for the web GL driver which should fix the issue there too.
-------

Late yesterday I reinstalled .048 and removed the mesa file as directed.
Only used it that way for a couple hours but no crashes so far.

I asked what removing that file did and he didn't know. Seems to revert to a different 3D library. Didn't seem to affect the speed.
If someone that is experience the same instability could try the solution and report back, would be very useful, thanks.

Hi guys,
I have installed Sierra 10.12.5 on my Mac Pro, and I can confirm that the solution of removing only the libosmesa.dylib file from ../resource/libs/osx/mesa solves the issue of starting up R18.048 correcrly.
I had not to change the Nvidia drivers, and my 1070 works as expected.
It is not perfectly stable, I've got one crash while moving objects in LV, but it should be usable until Maxon and Nvidia solve definitly the issue.
Happy rendering,
ciao beppe

I did a little thing that seems to work so far:
In c4d I ticked the following box off: Preferences > Communication > Automatically Check for Updates
I thought of it since I got this pop-up in c4d right after starting up and just before I wanted to start Octane. I thought that pop-up could be the problem. At least for the starting up crashes. I had some crashes half way the day using Octane, but so far so good. I keep you posted!

Also, thanks for the previous posts; I will look into it as soon as the crashes start. Which of course hopefully doesn't happen :)

Crashes are back.

Already tried deleting the libosmesa.dylib file, but with version .041 that's not the fix. Also it crashed in the middle of working with it, so no crash-up problem perse?

As soon as I have time, I wil try a clean install, wIth the new version of R18...
