Hello,
I've been having a crash issue with C4D/Octane on Mac. I get a black screen and system reset at random times while working in C4D with Octane LV loaded. Has anyone heard of this issue? It's getting so bad now I get a panic/restart a few times a day.
Version: OctaneRender 3.05.1
OS: OSX 10.11.6

Mac OSX Kernel Panic Restart

I use a mac (10.10.5) for all my octane work, and it's been mostly stable for me.
I see you're on an older build of octane, the latest 3.05.x is 3.05.3
Have you also checked that your nvidia and cuda drivers are up to date?

Hi rutv,
since you are on a Mac Pro 5.1 with 10.11.6, my suggestion is to update the cuda drivers to CUDA 8:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html
and update the plugin to 3.06:

Another good idea would be to add a second card for display only, leaving the 980ti only for rendering.

Thanks guys.
My Cuda us up to date: 8.0.83.
I agree with you bepeg4d. I wish I didn't have to use the 980ti for display but I'd have to remove one 980ti in order to add in a display GPU. For me I need two GPU's for octane to feel worth while. I guess I could buy an EGPU housing. Are those stable now? Is that the cheapest fix for this problem?
Thanks for your time,
Ryan

Hello,
Looks like I have similar issue here. With my new configuration (MacOS 10.12.5 - 2x GTX 1080 - Octane plugin, webdrivers and cuda up to date) I got some random reboots when I'm using live viewer. It seems not to happen when I render (or this situation didn't happen yet)
I tried differents combinaisons like C4D R17 or R18. I also tried with 3.05.3 version. Looks like crashes took more time to come with this version but it's still rebooting anyway. It's happens to any project, even if I create a very simple scene like a cube and an HDRI setup.
Does anyone have an idea where to look for ? Is there any chance to check the log files ? When I enable log windows I can't see anything strange before restarts.
Please help

Hi guys,
I wonder if it's not related to the power connections of the cards... how are you powering the gpus exactly?

Hi guys,
sorry, I mean which kind of power supply?
In general kernel panic and restarts are hardware related, like thunderbolt port of power supply issues.
