i am going out of my mind.

i am testing something out:
having a single map, scaled down and mapped onto an object but not tiled - like a decal or something similar.

problem is: the displacement map i am using with the same map is disregarding the MODE option.
i tried it in max - sam problem.

this cant be right can it?

Yes mode is not working with displacement. Displacement node is very limited to use just imagetexture also.

i found later a similar post to mine.
is this something that could be fixed down the line or should i just find a workaround and forget about it?

It's not a plugin limitation. Does not looks like a easy fix in the renderer as my previous questionto team. Better to make a request in standalone topics.

Hi Ahmet,

just to be clear, is the use of a 16 bit height map image the preferred input for displacement?

16 and 32 bit are preferred for smoother results. If you note that in settings/c4dShaders, there's activated option named as "floattexture for displacement". It's activated for c4dshader conversions for getting the smoother results like in my advice.

hi ahmet,

yes i´ve noticed that both max and c4d plugins have the same behaviour. ofcourse this is something for the standalone subforum.

thanks for the tips,
