Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to Octane but I've already bumped into a problem:
If I got a live viewer window still open when I exit C4D the plugin gives me an error msg:
The plugin c4dOctane-R18.cdl64 has crashed.
More info can be found in ... you know the rest.
I'm running Win 7, all the latest updates.
It happens on both my rigs, one has gtx 970 the other has two 1070's.
The second rig I've just built like today so it's squicky clean.
Apart from that I've got a few more unsolved questions which I'll just post along.
1# As stated above I've got two rigs, which I'll both be using.
From what I thought to have understood is that once you simply exit c4d the license should automatically deactivate right? (But I'm having these crashes at the moment..)
2# How exactly does the licensing work for multiple workstations with the C4D plugin.
Example I have two work stations, if I wanted to use octane for both at the same time would I need Two standalone licenses and Two C4D plugin licenses or just 1 Standalone license and 2 C4D licenses?
Thanks in advance!
Octane plugin crashes when exiting c4d

It's not expected result. While having a render or updating message in LV? Can you post this bugreport.zip? It's showing some info where it crashed.Lipadoza wrote: If I got a live viewer window still open when I exit C4D the plugin gives me an error msg:

No, it's at random, even if the scene is empty and the LV is clean it'll crash on exit.aoktar wrote:It's not expected result. While having a render or updating message in LV? Yes it seems a crash for octane plugin. What's your plugin/C4D versions? What kind of license do you use? Regular(normal) or subscription?

Normal license, C4D R18 and the latest Octane that I could find (I've only started out using it yesterday)aoktar wrote:Yes it seems a crash for octane plugin. What's your plugin/C4D versions? What kind of license do you use? Regular(normal) or subscription?
3.05.3? Can you try without any other plugins if you have? If it's crashing before deactivation procedures then license will be activated on exit. Can you check license status by F5 on running/exitting?

I don't have other plugins, and what do you mean by checking the license status by F5? It just stays active according to my live account, and C4D never really quits it keeps running in the background so I have to manually end the application trough taskmanager before I can relaunch.aoktar wrote:3.05.3? This page. It will show activation status. Pls check and let me know if that's deactivated or not on quit. Some users are having this issue about unproper quit of C4D. And stays on background. I don't have exact idea why but my suspections around some network blockage on exit. Also is it closing and diasppearing from task manager if you close LV before quitting?

Yes it remains activated upon exiting. Only way for me to swap devices is to enter C4D and sign out via octane options then exiting.aoktar wrote:This page. It will show activation status. And even if I close LV before exiting it remains active in the BG so I can't really tell for sure what the cause is.
In regards to your suspicions on network blockage, it's a freshly built and installed workstation so there's no Firewall/Virus scan active yet and I've also disabled my router firewall.
Perhaps I need to open up some ports for Octane?
Can you try this flag file for generating logs? Extract it to directory of Cinema 4D.exe and run C4D's itself. Do somethings and quit. It will create a file as "octane_log.txt" at same directory. If it stays on TM or crashes find/copy "octane_log.txt". Then post here. And don't forget to remove flags file. Because it will slow down the operations.
