The Slave is not happy about using Region Render on the Master. Sometimes I spot the slave typing 700 errors:
....
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to deallocate device memory
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> could not get memory info
CUDA error 700 on device 0: an illegal memory access was encountered
-> failed to unload module
device 1: data size doesn't match memory size
device 1: path tracing kernel failed
device 1: the device failed immediately after the recovery -> giving up and swit
ching the device into error state
device 0: data size doesn't match memory size
device 0: path tracing kernel failed
device 0: the device failed immediately after the recovery -> giving up and swit
ching the device into error state
And about 4 or 5 seconds later the Master crashes. Usually happens when I release the Region Render by clicking in the viewport. But it is random. Happens about 2 times a week. But it requires a slave reboot as 1 of the cards usually only run at half speed after that.

I think for now the only solution is to rotate the object instead of the camera, and if needed, move the camera only in y-z axis to keep the normals with the same orientationTheImageFaculty wrote:Hi Guys,
I have an animation where the camera orbits around a product and we are using the Shading Normals pass for relighting in post.
The issue we have at the moment is that the normals are not 'aligned' to the camera. This means that as the camera travels to the rear of an object, the relighting needs to shift to another colour.
So I am requesting a 'camera' space normal pass as an alternative to the 'world' space shading normal pass we currently have. If you have a work-around in the meantime I'd be interested to hear it.
Thanks,
Darren

Yes, I always clear the the old plugin. Also to note, It seems to take longer to the Live picture viewer to load up. Not that this is an issue. But it is noticeable difference from 3.04.4.

I don't see any different and nobody reported too. Better to using c4d release thread for those not standlone topics. You should post a bugreport.zip and some details about process and scenes.Allan_onderick wrote:Yes, I always clear the the old plugin. Hi there!
I have issues with the standalone version on Linux (Mint 18.1) - it wont render. I have recently installed a GTX 1070 and fresh Linux install with 375.26 proprietary Nvidia drivers. When I try to render with Octane 3.05 & 3.04 it hangs, repeating this error over and over:
The drivers installation went smooth, the Nvidia settings recognize my GTX 1070 (and the 550 I use for display) and so does Octane:
Tho, if I run lspci, GTX 1070 is not properly named. Not sure if this is an issue or not:
Note two additional things:
1.) I'm able to render with Cycles (Blender 2.78) on the GTX 1070 in the same Linux environment just fine
2.) Octane 3 works on Windows 7 on the same machine. (tried the demo version 3.04 just to test it)
EDIT:
3.) Octane 2.26 works just fine

After several hours of trying I realized that the problem is more complicated
for commercial models with textures.
Even when using the obj exporter from 3dmax the obj file in Octane is not recognized in matters of texture.
Hundreds of models from several providers are useless in Octane while on other apps are loaded smoothly.
An example is models from CG AXIS
99% are not loaded and I cannot fugure out which property in the mtl file causes the fault.
Even deletng the map_kd to map_d does not work.
For both octane standalone and plugin (archicad in my case) textures are replaced with rgb
A demo file can be downloaded from here https://bit.ly/volume67_free_model
This should be consider a bug for octane as just the geometry is half the way for complete, proper importing.
Please take in consideration this factor for the next updates
