I am having a nightmare with a render for a VR project we are working on.
It is my first project in Octane and I have been learning as I go, so am presuming this will be down to my lack of knowledge, its always either a check box i've forgotten or some sub menu that I haven't explored!
I am outputting an animation of a tree house, where a load of objects in it go Zero G, the light drops out and a light flies around it. There are some lightbulbs that I have on wires inside the treehouse that flash on and off (few frames per flash as it seems to be killing my render times), they use an emissive texture and it looks awful, I have read they are difficult to nail so my questions are the following:
1. For a video/animation, is there any other way that's more effective to light a bulb and have it react with the environment around it?
2. If it's emissive, can anyone give me an 'optimum' setting for it?
I am attaching some images that will hopefully shed some light... see what I did there, on the issue. If I need to upload any other images/settings etc please let me know. Have added my emissive texture settings, the right hand side is the render, it's like the light has only bounced one... not sure what to do to change that, is it samples? If so will that make my frames take forever to render.
Thanks so much for your patience and will appreciate any help anyone can give me!
J.

Too long words sorry can you shortly explain what do you mean with broken?

Hi there,
Sorry 'broken' was the wrong word to use, as it implies the software is to blame which it is definitely not, entirely user error.
I have some light bulbs, that are in a dark space as per my image. They create a load of noise rather than an even light like my daylight outside.
I read that the noise is because am using an emissive texture, I just don't know how to fix it. Contemplating removing it, but would be a shame as it adds atmosphere.
Thanks again.

Here some videos. Have you watched for tricks? Do you know all parameters of kernels? Some of them are helpful for that. Also another settings from emissions and also other tricks about geometry and placement of emissive objects.

Hi aoktar, will take a look at those videos now.
So I could see what was going on, I removed the post effects, then also turned the hot pixel removal to almost '0' ... this killed my fireflies, which is great but I think I see what the issues is.
My emissive texture on the bulb elements, is emitting light, but it's not landing on the wood surfaces or anything? Find attached an image, sure it's a silly mistake on my part, but i'm not sure what though?
It's almost as if the light is there but it's not going any further, it's like a particle emission and i've got the life span really low or something?
Thanks again for the speedy responses I really appreciate it.

my default approximate settings for these kinda scenarios
Kernel: PT
Diffuse ans specular depth: low as possible
Caustic blur: 1 or near
G_Clamp: 1-10
Coherent ratio: Around 0.3
Try to understand all parameters
I hope some other masters answer you. Better than my answers.

Hi there,
Here's my image, so when I take off the glass 'bulb' object so it has no glass around the element, it starts to illuminate my scene. What does that mean I have done wrong with my object, do I need to tick some kind of 'pass through' to allow the light to pass through the object and glass material?
Thanks again!

Hi JoeHunter91,
probably you have not ticked the "Fake shadow" option in the glass material.
Anyway your light setup is not efficient, please look at this other discussion about noise and emission:
