why maya plugin load meshs much faster? is it a new engine?
The Octane engine used in OctaneRender for Maya is identical to that used in OctaneRender for Modo - so any difference you see would be at the Modo end (or your geometry in Modo has more vertices than in Maya).

Paul
Is the same geometry with same number of layers, but the difference with big meshs in loading time is dramatic. You need to try the last maya plugin version and try to understand why.

Thanks Tharso. "Dramatic" doesn't really give me much of an idea of the actual load time differences.

Ok ok. I will do the test and give to u some exactly times, but I remenber sometimes the double of the time, maya 5 seconds and modo 10 seconds. I am modo user but I am very surprised with loading times in maya demo plugin. Just try some big meshs and see for yourself, I will love some improvements in it. I remenber that octane 3.1 will be better in this area too.

Hi Paul,

I am not sure if I asked this already and missed the reply, I am trying to use the <Octane NodeGraph> but [Edit Node] is greyed out. It is not greyed out when the render is active, but then the button doesn't do anything. I am using 902, Octane4Modo 3.05 (3050004) in Windows. I am trying to use the Scripted Graph for Metal.orbx by Roeland.

EDIT: Nevermind, my error. I did not connect the node to the override first. Doh!

Hey Paul,

What does it mean by "Too many replicator transforms?"

At the moment the plugin limits the number of transforms sourced from a Replicator to 1,000,000. How many transforms do you need?

Ah. Okay thanks. 1 million is enough. I was replicating a single leaf to create bushes. Instead I used a cluster of leaves as the replicator source to make sure not to go over the replicator transform limit and still fill the objects.

I made some test. Dramatic says a lot, sometimes 10 times faster, 5x faster and so. Maya mesh loading is much faster !!!!

Test normal importing and exporting an OBJ and FBX in Maya and Modo. Compare that first, it might simply be a Modo vs Maya thing, not necessarily the plugin itself. (Just a thought)

Following is a release candidate for this next version of the plugin. If no issue are reported, I will do a full release for this version.

3.5.3.116
- Compiled with octane 3.05.3
- Fixed issue where changes to the Modo Focus Distance were not changing the Octane Focal Depth when Camera Motion Blur was off
- Fixed issue where the focus distance was not being exported by the octane.saveAnimation command if the Use Modo Focal Distance checkbox was disaabled
- Added support for Substance textures
- Added new pins added in Octane 3.05 to the Daylight Environment
