Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2015, 2016, 2016.5 and 2017 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine.

CHANGES SINCE THE PREVIOUS VERSION
  • Fixed multimaterial crash in cases when some material gets deleted.
  • Minor fixes and improvements...
Known issues:
- batch rendering on OSX is not working currently. This is Octane engine related issue, will be fixed in next SDK.
- Octane SDK 3.04.5 may crash sometimes when using LiveDB. Should be fixed with next SDK version.

Hi Jim,

Also I find a issue with the scale on Fluid (and other scales options) . If my scene in additional tab "the scale" are set "1" is fine I get really good results now if I change my scene size to 0.01 based on "cm" on Maya scale (Pretty standard in the industry!) I have weird results all scales doesn't work so well in the volume node, scatter node, displacement and etc... The scale option are not translate when this settings are changed , The render they are never the same, I specting changes but not a huge change specially on the fluids.

For me I have a scene with any fluid set with a size of 2 meters they are really hard to make work aswell look the same. I will attach a scene here Please takea look if you don't mind.

Just change the main scale "1 to 0.01" and you will see the problem then try to match the result is really hard to get the same look. The correct I think if I multiply the value by 10 should show the same result isn't?, please some help would be great.

Best,
Jo

Thanks for the update.

Strange is that I found a problem, trying to test a simple scene, with a simple poly plane with Octane diffuse material, a sphere with octaneGlossyMaterial and a octaneSunSky with Day light env.

On both of diffuse passes, very hight level of noise, even that the beauty looks fine at lower samples, less than 60, for the diffuse pass needs more that 600 to look clean. This was not happened on v2.

With what Kernel ?
Do you have the same result in Standalone 3.04.5 ? (exporting your scene as ORBX)

@nedan,
was asking your kernel (path tracing) ;)

ok so I have the same result as you, in Maya2016 and also in Standalone 3.05

but the DiffuseIndirect is different in standalone 2.26.1

I remember now, this is because in V3 we're supposed to multiply raw passes with filter passes.
So to get the same DiffuseIndirect pass as in V2, you have to multiply the raw DiffuseIndirect with the the Diffusefilter pass.

Or you can just disable the RAW toggle to get directly the same passes as in V2 :D

Seems to be a problem with Livedb in Maya 2017, when importing Octane mat Maya Freezes or Crash  would be great if this can be fixed.

Hi Jim,

I was trying to bake textures but is missing the baking ID options also UV set options, "on the Octane options at the mesh" with the layer ID.

Is that other location for that? I'm confused?

Best,
