OK I appreciate taking a look and all, will try and do something on my end ..
BTW the converter is actually working very very well - btw I'm doing product renders and my works are shown on a website that has millions of views, so it's pretty important to me that I can convert old models and that octane performs well, too many projects made just this year - and around 300+ of personal ones
- I'm very impressed and pleased with your work so far

Hi acc24ex,
A question for you,
is that scene imported from another application, something like Revit?

.. it's imported from zbrush, I usually jump back and forth via the GoZ script, which takes care of import stuff..
- also now when you're here, can you explain how to efficiently use the scatter volume in the HDRI, or how to achieve some fog there - struggling a bit with settings not sure which way to go

acc24ex,
thanks for the reply, It is useful to understand your issue.
About fog and hdri:
Operation same as with physical sun.
links about it.
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=56599
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=56810
Specifically, the result depends onHDRI; high quality HDRI as produces good shadows cast, works well with volume effects.
As you can see in screenshots, I used two different HDRI with same features but different quality.
Different results with the same volume settings.
Regards
Paride

thanks! just the thing I was looking for, thanks for taking the time for looking for those - should set them as sticky
Have a crash to report - when switching to AO on the live viewport .. fairly soft crash, only max died at least - on 980ti, win7, max 2017
had some faloffs set on emission and a lot of polygons with specular

also a UX suggestion - how about syncing or disabling octane camera postprocessing in the scene so we can use the one on the render settings panel
- having a hard time controlling camera exposure / post pro with cameras inside the scene - I almost never use it actually - are there any benefits apart from the target aperture control?

again crash while scrolling down the channels on the render viewport, so crashed right after the zdepth - going to position
- I'm not temped to recreate those errors, so when you can, go and try to scroll through it from time to time.. trying on a different scene now, seems OK,
- but it's a 2nd crash like this , imported model from maya to 3dsmax 2015 then to max 2017 - unless the importing to 2017 is a problem
- but the scene I'm working on now is a direct port from max2015 .. no probs on that one ..
.. so far, getting crashes on occasion while saving direct from viewport and scrolling through channels (once on AO and some on position)
- some fixing upping on the viewport then?
- getting real comfortable with octane 3 though..

Hi acc24ex,
about the issue AO crash, I tried to reproduce the case, even with very heavy scenes, but I failed.
Could you be so kind to attach a scene (in pm if you want) reproducing the issue?
I would like to resolve your issue, but I need to be able to reproduce the event.
About saving the viewport, it is a known issue and will be fixed asap.
About "also a UX suggestion - how about syncing or disabling octane Room postprocessing in the scenes so we can use the one on the render settings panel
- Having a hard time controlling chamber exposure / post pro with cameras inside the scenes - I almost never use it actually - are there any benefits apart from the control openings target? ".
I do not think understood clearly what you mean..
