Render Region Too Dark

Yes, this is using PMC. I haven't used PT at all, really, since PMC offers better realism, from what I have heard. So my experience with PT is minimal. How does it differ in results with PMC? What does a PT image lack that PMC does not?

From your post then, it would seem that a user needs to do a fairly quick and noisy test w/ and wo/ region rendering to test for brightness issues, before starting the final render in PMC. Otherwise, there could be the need for region rendering later and then you learn it won't composite efficiently without additional PShop work.

I will test in this order:
1. Try PT and see what happens.
2. Try a much simpler lit scene w/ PMC and see what happens.

Sorry for the long delay.

My tests showed that PT does not have the problem. But in PMC, even if I remove the majority of lamps in the scene, the problem still exists across the render region area. In other words, not just at the edges.
