You showed an error window from Standalone: download/file.php?id=56366&mode=view
It says that another instances of Octane is still running. This means there is another progress which use octane core. I thought that can be an octane plugin which is still running same time.

As @aoktar said, you need to make sure no instances of either standalone or any application running an Octane plugin are running to sing out, regardless you do it from standalone or a plugin, the result is the same.
If there are no traces of running processes this may be a bug we haven't come across yet, but I'd encourage you to first update to the latest version of standalone and your plugin if you haven't done yet.
If this keeps happening, try restarting and trying again and please let us know how that works for you.
And again, you don't need to sign out every time, all you need to do is to close Octane so your license is released.

I will certainly update! Didn't realize there was a new point release out. I ended up just unlocking from the web, I understand what you are saying about not having to sign out, but once a contract is done at a company, I'm not at that place anymore and I don't want to leave my license signed in, that's why I was trying hard to figure this out. Also didn't want to lose one of my unlocks hehe. I'll make sure to update the software and keep you posted.
Glad to see you got it working.
Just so you know, should you run out of unlocks you may apply for a reset to [email protected] who will study your case.

something similar happen to me.
when my desktop is off, 100% shut down, but when I try to open C4d on my laptop outside work, both licence of octane said it's still logged on to my desktop. is there way to fix it ?
I have latest R18 for c4d and 3.06 test 4 for both octane stand alone and c4d license.
it used to work pretty smoothly when it's on a early version like 3.0.

Your computer being off doesn't mean that the license will not be in use: If for instance your machine is not switched off properly or there wouldn't be an Internet connection at the time you closed Octane Standalone or your plugin's host application, the license will still be in use.
If you want to make sure the licenses are released, the best option is to check here before you leave:

Thanks mojave for quick reply.
I understand now. so what would be the best solution for me?
log off both stand alone and and c4d when i go out ? or is there any host application I need to close separately?
(FYI. I alway turn off all my programs when I shut down my computers.)
Checking the licence online is a good tips, thanks

Sure, close all standalone licenses as well as all instances of C4D and any other application that may running Octane as a plugin.
That should release your licenses unless the Internet connection is unstable, that's why I said to check on the web to make sure

Guys,
I am having the exact same issue. This is annoying. The website states very clearly that we're to logout there only as a last resort. Instead, we need to log out on host computer. I don't even have the standalone version. I use C4D. You keep saying, to close all apps running Octane. I need to have C4D open in order to Sign Out of Octane! But no matter what I try, even shutting down the computer, it will not release the license.
Please advise.
Thank you.
